This appears, on the face of it to be a good idea, one person who knows everything and can keep his finger on the pulse running everything.

However, it does in itself hold problems. What happens if they leave, or just go sick? Short-term sickness might not be too much of a problem if you are lucky, but what about long-term sickness? That could be a disaster.

A better system is to have two people responsible for your I.T. One who is the main player, but with a very good second in command to  provide backup.
