Save Harleston Group Meetings Information

Back to the Save Harleston Group page

Monday 15th January 2007

A meeting was held at the Apollo Club for interested parties concerning the Travellers. At the meeting all those persons who were already Members of the Save Harleston Group voted to accept the proposed Constitution for the Group and the proposed Officers were elected to their posts.

It was also decided that the Group should continue, and collect funds to fight any action necessary on behalf of the Group. Since it was necessary to avoid financial liability falling on any Officer or Member of the Group the funds need to be in place BEFORE any action could be taken, hence the necessity to collect funds NOW.

URGENT INFORMATION!

On the evening of Monday 6th November 2006, 350 concerned Residents of Harleston and surrounding villages gathered at the Apollo Club to hear the current position regarding the Travellers Site in Rushall Road.

There was some good news, and some bad news (More to follow on this site as the notes become available). But it was decided unanimously that Legal proceedings need to be taken by the Residents to ensure our views are heard properly.

THERE IS A DEADLINE OF MID DECEMBER TO GET THE PAPERS IN

We do it now, or lose ALL chance of doing it. A Solicitor is needed to draw up the papers, and they don't come cheap. A retiring collection was taken at the end of the meeting to start the ball rolling. BUT WE NEED YOUR MONEY TOO!
