What is a Database? What is P.R.I.S.M.S.? What other matters can Barry Woods assist with? What are the objectives of the Company Barry Woods - I.T. Business Solutions? The objective of Barry Woods – I.T. Solutions is to bring the Benefits of Information Technology (I.T.) to all its Clients regardless of their starting point To remove the mystique that can surround I.T. and replace it with a common sense understanding of how I.T. fits into each individual Client’s Company. To advise and train the personnel of the Client as to how the I.T. should be used to maximise efficiency, profits and benefits to the Company. To achieve this, Barry visits the Company premises and evaluates the current I.T. available within the Company. Having discussed with the relevant person or persons in the Company in which direction they wish the Company to take, Barry provides a step by step guide as to how to achieve that project, for consideration by the Company. From that point any changes or introductions agreed are overseen by Barry who provides full support and training where required. Barry GUARANTEES that each recommendation is produced with the best interests of the Client Company at its core. If any bias against the best interests of the Company is detected, Compensation appropriate to the suggested bias will be given. Back to Top Back to Top What is a Database? We are all familiar with a written list of information. We all know how to find information in a list. But the bigger, and more complicated the list, the more difficult and time consuming it is to find the information. Having found one piece, what then? You have to look through the rest to make sure you find it all. But how do you put them together? Your write them down on a piece of paper. So slow, and you are never sure that you have found everything. Now imagine an electronic list. It doesn't matter how big or how complicated. With the press of one button you can find every example of what you are seeking, and then use it in many different ways. That is a Database. It is an Excel Database system for the management and manipulation of information relating to Police Search Activities. Whilst it is naturally best if the P.R.I.S.M. System is already in Force prior to the Major Incident, it can be provided at short notice. If the matter is Urgent then all it requires is a telephone call to Barry Woods on 07917 103554, confirmed by an e-mail to barry.stwoods@btinternet.com; making the request for attendance as soon as practicable. Barry Woods will then attend at the earliest practicable time bringing with him everything necessary to Install the System, and Train local Officers in its use. OVERLORD is a Database System that allows for the correllation of multiple Operations which may or may not be connected, but where it is necessary that the Evidence is kept separate. It is a System that combines all the information from the multiple Operations into one fully searchable Database. This allows PolSA's to keep control of multiple connected Operations without the necessity of trying to maintain contact with multiple Databases. It came into existance to cover the situation that arose in Suffolk with its five Murders. Back to Top Back to Top What else is available? Barry Woods has a wide experience of Police Information Management Database. Each was specifically designed and created to fulfill the requirements of the Section desiring the database. The usual way of gaining more information is for a nominated person to contact Barry Woods, who can send some basic information concerning the System. Further information can then be sent, if required. If the Police Force concerned wishes still more information, Barry usually visits the Force and gives a Presentation concerning the System to as wide a spread of Interested Parties as possible. In this way the relevant Officers of the Force obtain their information first hand, enabling a proper evaluation to be carried out. Back to Top Back to Top What can the P.R.I.S.M. System be used for? Can it only be used for Major Murder Investigations. No, P.R.I.S.M.S. has a wide range of possible uses. Its use really depends on the intent of the person deploying the System. It is not necessary to invoke all the features of P.R.I.S.M.S. on every occassion. In some cases it can be used in a very short form to give the necessary control to the Search Activity, whilst in others the full spectrum of functionality will be used. Barry Woods is still on the Centrex Database as an Expert in setting up Search Operations Rooms. Whilst it would be usual for him to bring his P.R.I.S.M. System with him, it is by no means obligatory. Having worked on the Danielle Jones, Amanda Dowler, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman Murder Investigations, and the Daniel Entwhistle High Profile Missing Person; he can bring a wide range of Expertise to the Case. He has also worked in Setting up the system for Finding, Recording, and auditing of evidence in Cold Case Murder Investigation in Essex, besides working on other Information Systems for Other Departments. (See "What else is available") He also has a wide expertise in the practicalities of Counter Terrorism Exerise Planning, having provided all the I.T. requirements for a "New Salesman" Table-Top Exercise; and the I.T. liaison officer post for the Major "Aglow" Exercise -"Rogue Patriot" involving the Government and Other Organisations held at Stansted Airport.
