25th May 2010 - An away game this week at Diss Causeway. I quite often visit Diss and park in the Chapel street car park. Today I found out that just over the fence is the Diss Causeway Club. How I missed it I will never know. The wind was a bit cold, but the green was good, players better and after a tight match which my team drew, as a Club we lost. But we all gained from the exercise and friendship.

21/5/10 - Another home game but this one in the Upper Waveney Knockout Cup playing Mendlesham. We won again, but I found out yet more about what a Captain is supposed to know, and got it wrong, of course. There are just so many wrinkles, in this game they don't tell you about. A good evening, with good games, with lovely people. It would be nice to say the weather was improving, wouldn't it.

18th May 2010 - Another Home game this time playing Pulham Market. A better evening than some, and we won which is always a bonus taken on top of a lively game with good company.

13th May 2010 - I didn't manage to get to this one the away match at Mendlesham. I have played there before and know that the green is lovley like the people. We drew but lost on shots, but a good result neverthe less.

6th May 2010 - Our first home match as Captain, playing Thornham Magna. It wasn't dark when we finished but if there had been snow on the ground it would not have been unlikely since it was so cold. We didn't win this one but everyone had a good game and lot's of fun.

27th April 2010 - Our first Away game with me as Captain, at Hoxne. The trouble with being Captain is that people assume you know what you are doing. Not exactly true in my case at this point. The green at Hoxne was very good, the Hoxne people even better. A very friendly but competitive set of games ensued which I think everyone enjoyed. However, they took a bit longer than anticipated to the extent that by the last end we couldn't even see the jack without someone in a white jacket pointing at it! Funnily enough I played some of my best shots then. Perhaps I should shut my eyes, I might play better. Captain Kristian and I totalled up the scores and found Wortwell had won, 70/55, a great start to the season! I even went on to win a raffle prize. As the new Captain it could not have been a better start, but it was all down to the players from Wortwell. Many thanks to the gallant opponents from Hoxne, we look forward to seeing you later in the season.

25th April 2010 - We had our Open Day today, where the green opened for the 30th season and we hoped to find new players for the Club. We were lucky and had one previous Member rejoin, and two new ones start. Margaret Wilcox, current Indoor Inter-club League Captain and previous E.B.F. Captain, brought along the League Cup that we had won for the sixteenth time. A photograph was taken of some of the players who helped achieve this with the cup and Margaret. Other photos were taken of the games on the Open Day. A great afternoon of Social play was had by all after a very wet morning.

September 2009 - I went to the Wortwell Bowls Club Annual General Meeting this evening. I went in as a player, and came out as the E.B.F. Captain. I'n not sure how it happened but it certainly was not planned!
