Wortwell Bowls Club has been situated in Wortwell off Tunbeck Close, in the Recreation Ground, since it's inception in 1974. Whilst the green has remained in place, its surroundings have changed considerably over the years. Immediately adjacent to it now is the Wortwell Community Centre which provides the Club with changing and refreshment facilities. The Club remains committed to friendly competition and healthy exercise and welcomes anyone who would like to participate.
The entrance is situated against the building at the end of the hedge in the view shown. A wrought iron gate provides access into the green area, and from there doors provide the entrance to the facilities of the Community Centre. Though fairly small Wortwell is proud of its reputation as "Possibly the friendliest Bowls Club in Norfolk"
During the Season which normally spreads between late April and early September, there is a 'Roll-up' on the green when Members practice their skills in a set of friendly but informal games. Tea and biscuits are provided for a nominal cost. Anyone interested in playing, learning Lawn Bowls or joining the Club is heartily welcome to come along and see how it works.
For those who wish to take it more seriously, Club Members spend happy evenings playing in local Tournaments against local Clubs trying to win the local Leagues. Though not always successul in winning the Matches everyone is guaranteed a pleasant evening, with pleasant company, and good healthy exercise in both Home and Away games. A great time is always had by all concerned.
Besides the external Leagues the Club also runs internal competions to hone the skills of the Members.
