I upgraded from dial-up to Broadband. I can't seem to log into Broadband, but I am told it is working. Help! Mrs SC

Though the Broadband account had been properly set up, the original account was clashing with the new one. Effectively the computer was looking in the wrong place. If this occurs check your network connection settings, and disable or remove the extras you no longer need.

I have started an account with AOL. They have sent me a wireless modem to set up my computer, do I need this type of modem? - Mrs CH

What you have to remember is that a wireless modem is more complicated to instal than an ordinary wired modem. If you need a wireless setup, then you need that type of modem. If not I would suggest going back to AOL and asking for an ordinary modem. It will make it simpler for you to set up.

I am having trouble with my broadband connection. I had a Voyager 105 modem from AOL. It would not allow me to get online. They sent me a Voyager 190 modem as a replacement, but I am still having trouble. Is there an easy way to set this up?

There appears to be a particular set up required for modems with AOL as the Service provider. You need either to keep trying. I am assured it will work, but may take some time. Alternatively, you need someone to attend who has done it before. There seems to be no quick answer for this one.

I have AOL as my provider. It went slower and slower. Now I suddenly cannot get into my broadband at all, is there anything I can do? Mrs SC

This is not a simple answer. I had to attend the address to rectify the fault. AOL does seem to provide some difficulty when it goes wrong. I can only suggest you call me.

I have a recently started with Tiscali. They have provided a speedtouch modem, but I can't get it to work. Mr PS

The computer refused to recognise the modem at all. The computer was running WindowsXP home, but it would not react. It just gave the error message 'No connection can be made'. Various diagnostic software was tried, but they all said the modem was not connected. The cure was to switch the modem to a BT voyager 105 modem and reconfigure the system, which worked perfectly.

I cannot connect my new BT Broadband Router to my computer. They say is is all here but I cannot seem to find a socket for it. Mr H

The new BT Homehubs are supplied with an ethernet connection cable. (Often yellow and square connector.) Some older computers need a USB connection cable (Often blue and flat connector). To connect the new Router to your computer you may need to buy an ethernet/usb converter.
